A mass teddy bear hunt is under way around the world to help distract the millions of children locked down because of the coronavirus pandemic. Stuffed toys are being placed in windows to give children a fun and safe activity while walking around their neighborhood with parents. The hunt is inspired by the children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, written by UK author Michael Rosen. Pack 7 Teddy Bears are popping up all over town. Join us on a Bear Hunt! Put a teddy bear in your window too! As families take neighborhood walks they can join in the "scavenger hunt" and spy some teddy bears! Check out some bears owned by Pack 7 cub scouts........ Scouting @ Home Ideas
Service Project Idea: A Scout is a Friend to All Under the present circumstances, many seniors in our community can't leave their homes nor are they able to enjoy friends or family visiting. We'd like to help comfort them and hope that Marin Scouts will join in a service project during the next month or so. If you'd like to write to a senior in our community letting them know Scouts are thinking about them during this crisis, you can US mail or email them to the Marin Council, BSA office and we will send them out. Don't include personal address information in the body of the letter; we will forward any responses to you directly. For more information email Michael Dybeck. Thanks in advance for your participation! New Marin Council Online Program Feeling a bit of cabin fever? Fighting boredom? Tired of the virtual classroom? Missing out on all the usual Scouting fun? In response to our regional "Shelter-in-Place" directive and "Social Distancing" recommendations, we are pleased to offer a new "Scouting @ Home" program geared toward fun, learning and advancement opportunities. Click here for many exciting details and resources! Virtual Field Trips There are many interesting web resources available for easy access including museums, the National Parks, and more. BSA National Council resources In the coming days, this web link will be updated with some of our favorite Scouting activities for each age group that can be done at home. Please check back regularly, and let your friends know that theses activities are a great option for at-home fun and learning for Scouting families and non-Scouting families alike. Click here! The Marin Council Fishing Derby will be on Saturday, May 9. This is held at the Marin Rod & Gun Club in Point San Quentin. The MR&GC donate the use of their pier and BBQ area every year for this event! The day will start with fishing and tackle instruction (if you need it) from 9:30-10:45. The derby part of the day begins at 11:00 and runs until 1:00. After that, there is a BBQ with loads of prizes. A $6 donation per person covers the costs of bait, BBQ, prizes, and incidentals. However, if a Scout brings a Scout-age friend who is not already in Scouting, the friend and the Scout do not pay. You can find out more information and register by clicking this link to the Marin Council web site. Everyone must download and bring the release form on the day of the event (don't send it in earlier). For Fishing Derby questions, email Joe Cilia. For registration questions, email the Marin Council. -------------------- One of the ways we can show our appreciation to the Marin Rod & Gun Club is to participate in their cleanup day at the Club on the morning of March 28. If you would like more information about the time, email the Club by clicking this link. Let's show our appreciation to them for the years of generous donations! We want to send a huge thank you out to all of our families who attended our Blue and Gold Banquet. We hope everyone had a great time!
Check out our Instagram for some great photos of the evening! To top off a fun evening, the Boy Scouts of America took notice of our banquet and posted about it on their Instagram! Thousands of people across the country and around the world got to see the Storm Troopers in action at our Blue and Gold banquet! |
